Our Homeschooling Story

Unofficially we started homeschooling when my husband and I began reading stories to each children son as a baby. We had big floor books, big books you could read in your lap, they were books of all different sizes with many different illustrations pointing things out like letter, colors, and numbers. By the time our first child was 5, he went to preschool for a year (part time), he was reading words at places we went to and we were unable to spell McDees for McDonalds anymore.

Officially though, we started when our son at age 6. Our son was actually refused entrance because of his late birthday.in November. and he would be more immature and having trouble with various academic concepts.  I use to be a teacher  and there is some truth to that but I could see this more in junior high . All those hormones jumping every where, both sexes are awkward so I got that but not at age 5.  When he finally started kindergarten. it was half day program  On the first day, they covered the letter C and the 3.  On the second day, another kid peed on him and he learned about the middle finger.  To us, school had an end date and I now needed to find out what I needed to do.
